Trump has Done Nothing Wrong

I had an interaction recently with a diehard Trump supporter. Before we chatted, I knew he voted for Trump but didn't know to what extent. During our conversation, he looked me directly in the eye and said, "Trump has done nothing wrong." Initially, I just moved on to other aspects of our conversation, but later dwelt on his comment. I understand how some MAGA folks still support Trump, even after his lies, missteps, and inability to plan and do the heavy lifting as our Chief Executive. However, to say he's done nothing wrong is balderdash. I've included a few recent examples of why this Trump supporter is completely wrong.

Trump has Pardoned how many People?
Of all the 1,500 people Trump has pardoned, regardless of the crimes or circumstances, 30 have, since the pardon, committed serious crimes. More than ten of those who have been pardoned have been charged with serious crimes, including murder plots, child molestation, harassment, and assault. In addition, when Trump pardoned these individuals, he didn't even have the decency or energy to differentiate between the rioters who attacked police officers and those who were relatively peaceful once inside the Capitol. This may be the greatest example in our country's history of a President abusing his power to grant pardons.
If you breach the Capitol grounds illegally and then are later pardoned by the President, regardless of the specific offense that you may commit while in the Capitol, what is actually conveyed to these convicted felons? Is it okay what they did? Can they use the reason for committing a felony was that President Trump told them to "storm the Capitol." Do certain laws not matter? Do these pardoned individuals now feel emboldened to commit other crimes because they were not held to be responsible for their actions?
Speaking of pardons, Trump also pardoned the former leader of Honduras, Juan Hernandez, who was involved in trafficking tons of cocaine into the United States.
Another pardon to include here involves Changpeng Zhao, a co-founder of Binance, a cryptocurrency exchange. Zhao pleaded guilty to money laundering in '23 and served four months before Trump's pardon. According to my research, Trump admitted not knowing Zhao but believed his prosecution was part of a "witch hunt" by the Biden administration. (Note that Trump "believed" but wasn't certain that Zhao was prosecuted as part of a "witch hunt.") Zhao was not the only person involved in cryptocurrency who was pardoned by Trump. With Trump's fascination with cryptocurrency, one may wonder if he was pardoned to properly serve justice or because Trump felt it could ultimately benefit him and his family financially.
Law and Order Party?
Whatever happened to the part of “law and order?” Does it merely mean that they only want to enforce certain laws that will benefit their party? If it’s done without a discriminating approach, it should maybe be called “random law and order” party or “law and order only when it benefits their party in power?”
Was the 2020 Federal Election Stolen?
He still claims the 2020 election was stolen. Interestingly, multiple lawsuits have been filed against government officials in Georgia, and none have succeeded (for those conspiracy folks who think it was stolen). If you want to state your opinion about the election, that’s fine, but the facts are that there’s no actual evidence to suggest it was stolen. Trump wanted to find the 11,000 votes or so in order to capture the electoral votes from Georgia. It’s unfortunate we have the Electoral College, but when he suggested to Georgia officials that it was a bribe or a threat. Trump needed that amount, but that could not be found.

Does Trump Lie or Regularly State Misleading Claims?
According to the Washington Post, Trump made over 30,000 false or misleading claims during his first term, which ended in January 2021. That computes to about 21 claims per day. All presidents sometimes lie or deceive the American public, but doing so consistently day after day for four years is unprecedented. Said differently, corporate media never tracked the amount of lies a president has made until Donald became President. To an objective observer, what does that say about the integrity and character of our current president?
The First President Elected after being Convicted of a Felony
Before his second term began in 2025, Trump was found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York. He became the first US president to ever be convicted of a crime. Later that year, it appeared that a certain segment of the population supported him for a second term as the US President.
Has Trump Evolved when it comes to Clean Energy?
It was reported recently that the Trump administration will pay about $1 billion to a French energy company in exchange for the company abandoning plans to build offshore wind farms. Instead, Trump will pursue the fossil fuel path. Why does he hate clean energy? What's driving him to hate the energy of the present and future? Why does he particularly hate windmills? As a businessman, doesn't he realize we're past the quarter mark of the 21st century and that clean energy is the path we should pursue? How is this a good and effective business decision?
