There's so much going on recently with the assassination attempt of Donald Trump, Biden's terrible performance in his debate with Donald Trump, the RNC, JD Vance picked for Trump's running mate, Biden refusing to drop out of the race that I had to catalog a few of these events.
Destiny Trump?
Is Trump a man of destiny, or just a con man with excellent luck?
Perhaps Trump’s Not the Stubborn One?
I thought Trump was stubborn, but if the last few weeks are any indication, Biden trump’s stubbornness.
Lester Holt Interview with Joe Biden
I felt so frustrated when Biden told Lester Holt a couple of days ago that he feels he has the mandate of the Democratic Party because 14 million people voted for him. That’s before we knew (what his inner circle had already known) that his mental faculties were deteriorating, and hid from the American public. That mandate no longer applies. Some of those millions of voters may have a second opinion, considering what has come to light recently about President Biden’s overall health. So much has changed in the last several months; it’s unfortunate that Biden’s inner circle didn’t tell the truth much earlier. We can’t let that other guy win, but Joe’s refusal to leave the ticket puts an existential threat into play. Joe must go. At some point down the road, a post-mortem needs to be done by those individuals that prevented Americans about knowing the full story of Biden's health.
Was Biden’s Health History Hidden?
Carl Bernstein’s sources say concerns about Biden have been growing for a year. As far back as three years, many commenters in the N.Y. Times online questioned his mental faculties and reminded readers (and hopefully be seen by Joe) that he committed earlier to be a one-term president. Look, Joe, if you were in the same condition then as you are now, I’d certainly vote for you hands down. But that’s not what we’re looking at.
Remember Bill O'Reilly of Fox News?
Bill O'Reilly was interviewed this week by Jon Stewart, who publicly on a number of occasions saying he doesn't like Bill at all (or perhaps hates him). Regardless, during the interview, Jon asked Bill about the cause of inflation (during these last few years) and it appears that Bill had no idea of the cause. Bill, have you lost your marbles since stepping down from Fox? That's something he should have an idea about. I guess not knowing that critical piece of our economy would never preclude you from writing books about the status of our country. Boy, how I don't miss ya!
Bill: Three main causes of inflations: Deficient spending by the Biden administration to "pump up" our economy ("Some of the inflation owes to the 1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan signed by Biden in '21," economist Mark Zandi said, but he added, "It's at the bottom of the list."; two, supply chain issues after the pandemic (and don't forget about Ukraine); three, greed by certain producers and suppliers of goods. Inflation was a world-wide phenomenon. Biden's on the hook for some of it but his intent was to improve the economy -- he just did it too much which causes a certain amount of inflation.
Why is Ron DeSantis so Mean?
DeSantis said recently, “Today, Florida is fighting back against the global elite’s plan to force the world to eat meat grown in a petri dish or bugs to achieve their authoritarian goals. Our administration will continue to focus on investing in our local farmers and ranchers, and we will save our beef.” First thought: what does he mean by authoritarian goals? Something he doesn’t like? Does he think by having meatless products, those consumers of meatless products have an agenda – wanting to make all consumers eat meatless products? Does he think those who chose these products want to ban meat products altogether? It’s just another option for consumers? Another question about his quote: how does he define “global elite?” What’s he trying to say, that anyone who wants an alternative to beef-based food is part of the global elite? Or do these people want to achieve their authoritarian goals? Providing options to consumers is not the same as trying to control people’s dietary choices. It appears that DeSantis receives pleasure by pissing off his opponents. Perhaps the local farmers and ranchers have more control over DeSantis because they have more money to donate to his campaign. The Governor of the Sunshine State is merely delusional.
When he ran for president, he said, “he wants to make United States like Florida.” With loose handgun restrictions, an insurance crisis, many low-paying jobs, and a state that is beginning to experience severe climate change – those are the things he wants to expand to the entire U.S.? Besides being mean and vindictive, he rarely smiled and had trouble connecting to voters during his campaign. The good news is that he doesn’t have a shot at the presidential ticket in 2028, regardless of how well he does in Florida. The bad news, he may be replaced by JD Vance. Ron is power hungry but without suave and rapport, the only electorate he can connect with are those low-information voters in the Sunshine State.
Was Former President Trump Courageous?
I’m glad that former President Trump was not seriously injured, and I think it was Butler County, in Western Pennsylvania. However, I don’t consider what he did to be courageous. Luck comes into play more than anything. How was he brave, by being so obsessed with finding his other shoe? After several moments, he stood up and raised his fist. Why not just give give his supporters a “thumbs up” to know he was okay? That says a lot about the man, Republicans. Are you listening? At least he didn’t ask the Secret Service to rearrange his toupee before he stood up.
Just because a person survives an assassination attempt doesn’t make them courageous. You protect yourself by getting out of harms way. You could argue he put himself and those protecting him in harm’s way, by looking back at the crowd. What if there were other shooters? Did he put the secret service's needs ahead of his own by raising his fist in the air? Even during an assassination attempt, he displayed showmanship. I want less show by my president and more representing all Americans.
JD Vance Got a Better Offer
How many of those of our electorate realize that JD Vance served only 1 and 1/2 of his term as a U.S. Senator for the state of Ohio? And, after all that money his buddy, Peter Thiel had contributed to his campaign -- $15 million. I'd be quite pissed if I were Tim Ryan, his opponent from the Democratic side. He was slated to served six years but appears to have received a better offer. If Ohioans realized how little he represented their state, would they like a "do-over?"
Overall, "Crazy Times in America."
A few non-political comments...
Stop using “snubbed’ incorrectly
I won’t just pick on ESPN, CNN Sports, or Fox Sports, so Dan Patrick, I’m also looking at you in situations where the term “snubbed” was used inaccurately. Recently, ESPN.com has said Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics was snubbed by not being chosen for the Olympic team. According to an online dictionary, Snubbed definitions are treated with disdain or contempt, especially by being ignored. Jaylen wasn’t snubbed; another player fits better into the team dynamics. Anyone who is quite observant in the National Basketball Association knows Jaylen is a better player. Still, the other player brought a little more intense defense, which the team needs because they’re currently stocked with offensive players. Journalists, stop being lazy by using that term; use “Not Selected” instead.
Can CNN be More Like YouTube?
You watch a video on CNN, and you can’t see how much of the video you’ve actually seen, and you can’t pause either. CNN Video, why can’t you be more like YouTube?
